Conference on Christianity and Literature

Welcome to the Western Regional Conference on Christianity and Literature, hosted by Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California, May 15-17, 2014! This year's theme is "The Religious Turn: Secular and Sacred Engagements in Literature and Theory." The conference features a keynote address by Vincent Pecora, a reading by Marilyn McEntyre, and an interfaith panel with Kathleen Moore, Richard Hecht, and Gregory Orfalea.

Conference Registration:

Standard Registration: $120
Special Undergraduate Student Registration: $50

Please confirm participation by March 10.

In order to participate in the conference, you must also begin or renew your CCL membership.

CCL Membership:

Individual: $35
Undergraduate and Graduate Students: $30

Graduate Student Travel Grants

For graduate student travel grants to the 2014 Western Regional Conference on Christianity and Literature, please send the following materials to the conference coordinator, Dr. Kathryn Artuso at

  • A letter, not to exceed 400 words, stating the session in which the student is enrolled and explaining how this session relates to the student's dissertation in progress
  • An informational (not evaluative) letter from the student's Director of Graduate Studies or Department Chair, providing date of approval of the student's dissertation topic; expected date of completion; date when all other degree requirements were completed; statement of departmental policy on travel support for graduate students; and amount of funding applicant will receive (if any) toward attendance of the CCL.

The deadline for receiving these materials is March 10.
Awards will be announced on or before April 10.
