Sample Prospecting Email
Dear Mr. Jones,
I read your company’s internship description on the Job Spot website. I am inquiring about the internship opportunity listed in your Event Planning department. I was attracted to the prospect of helping with the Annual Rodeo event. I noted Westmont’s fall semester calendar is compatible with the scheduled outline in the description.
I will receive my B.A. degree in communication studies in December of 2013. My interest in event planning started in high school when I was asked to take a leadership role in the marching band’s annual fundraise. I was challenged and pleased to provide the oversight for the student participation side of this event, including painting, budgeting, marketing, and executing a silent auction.
Since then I have enjoyed helping organize my dormitory’s monthly service events. I have seen these events through, from start to finish. Further, I served on the planning committee for Westmont’s annual campus wide Spring Sing event over the past 3 years. Spring Sing a student –run event that involves over 1000 participants, performers, and attendees.
I know you must have demands on your schedule, but I wonder if you could give me a few moments of your time? I will call you during the week of July 23rd to discuss internship possibilities. In the meantime, if you need to contact me, my number is 555-555-5555 and my email is myname@westmont.edu
My resume is enclosed for your consideration.
Thank you very much for considering my request. I look forward to talking with you.
Sincerely,
My Name
