Clouds have always been my favorite part of creation, a quiet, sometimes wistful space, where I find intimacy and peace. I have fond memories of looking up to the sky as a child, searching for shapes and watching as they changed in color and form. As I have grown, I’ve continued to look to the sky to find God’s presence there. In my series of six oil paintings, I investigate the relationship between creation and Creator. I hope to emphasize the innate beauty and fragility of this earth, especially in light of the current climate crisis. God calls all of us to be dutiful stewards of creation, for He declared that it is good. By limiting my scale and composing the paintings vertically, I invite the viewer into intimacy with both creation and Creator, to see its stark beauty and majesty, and witness that our earth is worth saving.
