Artist Statement
I have combined careers as both an artist and an educator. Just retired, 2019, from teaching art at California State University Channel Islands. Also retired from teaching art at SBCC, VC, and Adult Ed., as well as many other places.

I received a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University at Long Beach, and a Master of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Arizona.

Interviewed and archived by Donna Granata, Focus on the Masters, and one of the founding members of Women Beyond Borders.

My recent artwork is Visual Meditation / Abstract Calligraphy. This theme has been ongoing throughout my career as an artist. It is inspired by over 50 years study of Eastern and Western Philosophy and Mysticism.

I consider my work as a meditative, spiritual practice. Philosophically, I feel that everything is spiritual and therefore making art is a spiritual experience, literally a visual meditation.

Handwriting, considered drawing in many cultures, expresses the movement of some of the works of art. Visually repeating the theme over and over, layers of words and colors. Some of these paintings, drawings , prints, and books are not intended to be read, some are; the finished images are non-objective designs created by the process expressing my experience of the zeitgeist of the times we are living in.
