For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12
Since I was a young girl, I have always known that my battle was not here on earth. It became hard to give meaning to normal everyday life. It was almost as though I was going through life in a black and white movie, wishing for color at every new turn. Normal activities meant nothing because I did not place value in the current life I lived; the knowledge I had, robbed me of the little joys life had to offer. As I grew, I realized that even though the battle is not in this dimension, it is connected in and through everything we do. Every bad dream, bad day at work, or anxious feeling is mirrored in the heavenly realms and speaks to this battle we cannot see.
This project is a reminder that we still have a purpose here in the already while hoping and preparing for the not yet. These illustrations are my own representation of traditional Christian spiritual warfare imagery, using the girl in the center to represent all of humanity and the fragility and choice of every individual soul. These images are printed on banners that connect to the symbolism of claiming battleground and the rebuking of spiritual warfare represented in the Old Testament.
