Academic Technology Classroom & Event Support

CLASSROOM SUPPORT

Classroom support for academic technology at Westmont College provides real time response for issues or concerns with the presentational equipment in the campus class and event rooms. The Academic Technology phone number is posted in all classrooms and is the best way to have a technician promptly provide the support needed in urgent situations.  Please email us at support@westmont.edu to alert us to an issue you are experiencing in a classroom.  Please note the classroom number and brief description of the issue.

If you are experiencing issues with your in-classroom Audio-Visual equipment or would like to schedule a training session, please submit a support ticket    If you are reporting a problem, please include a description of the issue you are experiencing along with the classroom number and time of occurrence and AT staff will respond directly. 

 

EVENT SUPPORT

Events at Westmont College are supported by the Director of Academic Technology and a trained student academic technology team (ATT).  Requests placed through our online request require 72 hours advance notice for weekday, daytime events and one week notice for night and weekend events.  To request support, please send an email to support@westmont.edu using your event name as the email subject.  In the email, let us know the date, location, actual start and end times and a brief description of your event and what you gear and support you are requesting.

The support matrix below is used to identify the type of support needed for each event. ATT director in partnership with the customer connect each event with the appropriate level of support.

 

ATT EVENT SUPPORT MATRIX

A

Staff and/or Director set up equipment by 15 minutes prior to event start, help presenter with tech and Director remains present for duration of event.  Staff and/or Director will return for AV equipment teardown.

Examples include:  

  • Events where President is presenting
  • Special recording events
  • Trustee Events
  • Preview Days Events

B

Staff sets up equipment by 15 minutes prior to event start, helps presenter with any tech and staff remains present for duration of the event.  Staff will break down AV equipment at the end of the event.

Examples Include:

  • Any event where the President is presenting
  • Video recording events 

C

Staff sets up equipment by 15 minutes prior to event start, helps presenter with tech and staff remains present for the first 10 minutes of the event, before leaving.  Staff will return for AV equipment teardown.

Examples Include:

  • Some Trustee or Advisors committee meetings
  • Movie screening events

D

Staff sets up equipment by 15 minutes prior to event start, helps presenter with tech and staff leaves event.  Staff will return for AV equipment teardown.

Examples Include:

  • Regular set up/tear down weekly events
  • Simple laptop/microphone setups
