Favorite Aspect of Westmont: My favorite aspect of Westmont was being able to walk into the Dining Commons after a long day and still be able to find time to sit down and hang out with friends during dinner. It’s in those times you’re sometimes reminded of the significance of relationships and how they play an integral role in your college experience. In fact, I’ve had many friends visit me from other colleges and they always comment about how the social experience in the Dining Commons is a really unique part of this campus!

Favorite Westmont memory: One of my favorite memories at Westmont was being invited to emcee for Spring Sing alongside Dr. Chapman. It was so much fun to be able to creatively work with a professor and experience the community of Westmont beyond the walls of the classroom, especially entertaining the Westmont Community in one of its longest traditions and making the rest of your peers look great on the stage. I still look back at that time fondly and am glad I was able to partake in it.

Favorite Place on Campus: I can’t reveal my favorite place because then everyone would go there. But the second favorite place was the deck behind the psychology department. It’s a gorgeous view of the campus and the fields especially during the sunset. Even better is the fact that you can have a view of the athletic events happening on a weekend afternoon while getting some much-needed work done.

Why do you work at Westmont?: My four years at Westmont allowed me to grapple with many questions I had about what I wanted to pursue and I believed in. What I appreciated about Westmont was that it allowed me to find a way to bring the fragmented aspects of my life into a coherent whole through intellectual pursuits and relationships with both friends and professors. Having graduated recently, I wanted to establish further relationships with my friends in Santa Barbara and the faculty/staff that I had grown close to at Westmont. Additionally, I wanted to give back to this institution in some capacity during my gap year and I felt that this was the perfect way to do it while also being able to represent a mission that I had convictions for.

Hobbies: I love to play both indoor and beach volleyball, produce paintings in my free time, and explore the intersection of medicine and the Christian tradition. Honestly, Santa Barbara is the best place to do all three, especially with a supportive community from Westmont.
