Dr. Van Haitsma graduated from Calvin College, earned a master’s degree in exercise physiology at Indiana University and a doctorate in exercise physiology at the University of Utah. He joined the Westmont faculty in 2014 after teaching at Georgetown College. His expertise includes human physiology, exercise physiology, human performance, and clinical exercise physiology. His research interests focus on exercise-induced fatigue, both immediate and long-term, chronic fatigue syndrome, and how the mind affects human performance. He enjoys the outdoors, whether running with his dog or hiking with his family.
