Internationally acclaimed photographer, filmmaker, and videographer, Shirin Neshat explores identity, gender, and politics, often in response to situations she has encountered in Muslim countries. Neshat’s Offerings series began with commission to design a wine label for the Ornellaia Wine Estate in 2019. Using the words from the eleventh-century Persian poet, Omar Khayyam, who wrote: [wine should be] enjoyed during our brief time on earth, Neshat suggests that wine is a life force and can facilitate social sharing. Neshat writes the poem in Islamic calligraphy, covering female’s hands.
