Artist Statement
Susan Tibbles works in mixed media assemblage and collage using found and fabricated objects in an idiosyncratic and imaginative way. Tibbles’ artwork shows the psychological and sociological complexities and metaphors of discarded objects brought to life in a new light. Much of the strength of her work lies in the decontextualization, reconditioning, and enshrining of bits and pieces of American culture, creating icons of multifaceted experience. Her work unites us with our past, our present, and our future.

Artist Bio
Self-taught, the accomplished artist launched her career as a fine artist in 1990. Her work has been shown in both Museums and Galleries in solo and group exhibitions across the United States and in Europe including Santa Monica, California; Santa Fe, New Mexico; New York; and Berlin, Germany. She has been a freelance illustrator for the LA Times "Opinion" section for the last 20 years.
