Clubs Writers' Guild
The Writers’ Guild is intended to be a place where any individual who wishes to can share their creative writing (in any genre) with a group of fellow writers and aspiring writers, to be heard, discussed, and thoughtfully critiqued in an enjoyable, relaxed group setting. The aim of The Writers’ Guild is to create a supportive, constructive, democratic forum where writers and aspiring writers can practice reading their works publicly, receive feedback, discover their voice, and thus improve their writing ability; additionally, the development of the skills of thoughtful listening and constructive feedback will also be practiced. The Writers’ Guild is for anyone who aspires to write, and as such is open to students and faculty from any department at Westmont College who have a strong desire to share and cultivate writing in a peer setting.
The hope of The Writers’ Guild is to encourage and empower writers and aspiring writers to discover their voice, to improve their writing ability, and to provide a supportive network of fellow writers that members will be able to refer to for years to come. We hope to create opportunities for members to read their works aloud in a public setting outside of Guild meetings, where they can further practice the invaluable skill of reading their works publicly.
