A Vital Role for Advisors
Westmont is committed to engaging AI in a way that educates and allows the college to develop a meaningful and effective strategic response to opportunities within the field of artificial intelligence. The Technology and AI Advisory Board mirrors Westmont’s commitment as a liberal arts institution and positions the board to discover ideas and craft recommendations that will guide Westmont's educational and leadership initiatives.
Members of the board play a key role in innovation and educational effectiveness:
- Meet twice yearly.
- Evaluate Westmont’s program in depth and provide input.
- Encourage conversation and policy discussion on the role of AI in society.
- Promote Westmont’s program, students and graduates to their industry networks.
- Assist in developing funding for the center.
- Evaluate facilities and equipment; provide recommendations.
- Leverage network for student summer internships.
- Evaluate interns and/or graduates who work at your firm.
- Participate in an annual technology conference and invite leaders in your network.
Westmont College
The Eighth President of Westmont College, Dr. Beebe is known for his expertise in leadership, Christian higher education, and strategic planning. The author of numerous articles and books with his latest being, “The Crucibles That Shape Us: Navigating the Defining Challenges of Leadership.” President Beebe has led Westmont since 2007.
Co-founder of Vintra, a company building security cameras through "next-gen edge and cloud analytics software that's infused with artificial intelligence." Featured in Westmont Magazine Fall 2023 in an article called "An Entrepreneur from an Early Age.” Vintra was acquired by Xebia in 2020. Westmont graduate, 2004.
Founder of W8less LLC, which uses micropositioning and robotics to create smart ecosystems. Previously co-founded 5D Robotics, Inc, where he created and managed a suite of robot behaviors that could be reused across many platforms and applications. David has received multiple awards and patents for contributions to the field of robotics and artificial intelligence.
AI software engineer and team lead at Amazon, working at the intersection of science, tech, and finance. Valentina also passionate about STEM advocacy and education. Born in Italy, Valentina has studied at Caltech and is a Westmont graduate, 2022.
Founder & CEO at Visus LLC, an enterprise software development firm focused on developing custom business applications that help companies succeed through innovative thinking and a unique approach to product development. Michael has served on several non-profit boards including the MIT Enterprise Forum's board of directors in Santa Barbara. He currently serves on the Westmont foundation.
CEO of Sense & Motion, an AI agency focused on supporting organizations through effective AI adoption. Tyler is passionate about creating positive change with technology and has spent his career working with a wide range of clients including Westmont College, Claremont McKenna College, Microsoft, National Centre of Medical Intelligence, International Justice Mission, and many more. At Sense and Motion, we see the transformative power of AI and are committed to making that a force for good.
Research fellow at AI and Faith, focusing on the ethical challenges of AI through religious wisdom. She recently completed a fellowship at the Lanier Theological Library in Oxford, UK, exploring AI, ethics, and Christian theology. She also hosts a Microsoft Research podcast, interviewing scientists on topics like generative AI. Gretchen holds degrees in English education, Mass Communication, and Learning Sciences & Human Development, along with a PhD from the University of Washington on Christian perspectives in AI ethics.
Founder and Managing Director of EvolveLaw, a law firm business consultancy. For the past 20+ years, Roxanne has helped law firms manage change, improve their business models, and enhance the quality, distinctiveness, and performance of their practices. Before her consulting work, she practiced antitrust and intellectual property law at Morrison Foerster LLP for 17 years, including a a 3-year stint as a Managing Partner. Roxanne believes in the critical value of the rule of law not only to administer justice, but also to lead social progress and steward relationships and resources.
Founder and CEO at Dane Technologies and Chairman of Levo AG. An inventor of multiple software solutions, he brings an expertise in robotics, machine learning, and AI. Dan is a Westmont parent and frequent lecturer in President Beebe’s class on executive leadership.
Founding director of Westmont's Center for Applied Technology and director of its incubator program, CATLab, launched in 2018. He also leads the enterprise CRM development efforts at Westmont, which allowed the college to replace its legacy ERP system in May 2024. Zak is a Westmont Monroe scholar and graduate, 2008.

Regularly works with companies in the AI, VR, video network, semiconductor, energy, content security, cybersecurity, and UI/UEX technology spaces to develop and implement actionable intellectual property strategies. Author of The Future of Fundraising newsletter with 50,000+ subscribers and former CEO of Gravyty, he’s a recognized leader in AI-driven nonprofit solutions. Adam’s insights stem from building cutting-edge tech to tackle fundraising’s toughest challenges. He’s a frequent speaker, podcast guest, and Boston 40 Under 40 honoree.
Research psychologist and team lead for the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory Neurotechnologies to Augment Cognition line of effort, seeking to enable, sustain, augment, and restore warfighter performance by leveraging biotechnology solutions that can sense various biological/physiological signals, assess cognitive state through advanced AI/ML algorithms, and then augment performance using neuromodulatory non-pharmacological interventions.
Monroe Professor of Philosophy at Westmont College, specializing in ethics, epistemology, and the philosophy of religion. He is the author of numerous publications. Mark has been a part of Westmont faculty since 2006.

Senior Data Science Consultant at 33Floors LLC, providing data analytics, data engineering, data warehousing, machine learning, and predictive modeling services to real estate investment funds. Walker has a bachelors degree from Babson college concentrating Data Analytics. He also runs his own consulting firm called WHO Data, LLC specializing in helping firms get the most from their data and helping them implement AI tools.
Computer science professor at Westmont College, with a passion for empowering all people with technology. Expert in working with cloud-native SaaS engineering teams, delivering efficient infrastructural APIs paired with exemplary documentation and imaginative approaches to problem solving. Mike serves as the faculty advisor for the mobile and AI development teams for the Westmont CATLab.
Responsible for all areas of College Advancement as well as serving as the Chief Information Officer at Westmont College. His role as CIO includes developing strategic planning for the college-wide implementation of technology. Reed has provided leadership for three campaigns at Westmont and was selected by Computerworld Magazine as a top 100 CIO.

Attorney of Technology Transactions and founder of Kibutza.ai, a platform designed to assist with content creation and marketing, particularly leveraging artificial intelligence. Kibutza.ai offers tools for generating written content, optimizing marketing strategies, and enhancing engagement through AI-driven insights. Phil also serves as a consultant to Microsoft, helping build computational data centers with Nvidia. Current Westmont parent and graduate, 1988.
Associate Professor of Mathematics at Westmont College. She earned her Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees at Stellenbosch University and her Doctorate in Applied Mathematics at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Her research focuses on applying techniques in computational harmonic analysis, approximation theory and spline theory in medical applications.
Earth Public Engagement Lead at NASA JPL, promoting space-based research on climate change and planetary health, as well as serving as primary outreach liaison for international Earth science missions like Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) and NASA/ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR). Previously he led communications at the World Bank and Future Earth, consulted for technology startups working on autonomous vehicles and open source telecommunications, and recently co-developed the launch strategy for The Age of AI and Our Human Future by Eric Schmidt, Henry Kissinger, and Daniel Huttenlocher. Westmont graduate, 2009, and Erasmus Mundus Masters Program in Public Policy graduate, 2018.
