Westmont Magazine Making a Mayr Match
In December, the George H. Mayr Foundation awarded Westmont a $50,000 challenge grant. By raising an additional $50,000 to match this amount, the college can create a $100,000 fund to endow a permanent George H. Mayr Scholarship Fund. Each year, this fund will help pay tuition for a George H. Mayr scholar.
The Mayr Foundation has provided scholarship assistance to Westmont for more than 20 years. After achieving financial success despite his inability to pay for college as a young man, George Mayr established his foundation to help others get the education he never had.
Eight out of 10 Westmont students receive financial aid. Scholarship programs on campus favor students with the best academic records as well as financial need. This year, Westmont budgeted about $7 million for financial aid.
