Summer & Mayterm Summer in Ocean View

Eligibility & Minimum Rental Commitment

The summer season at Ocean View is from Sunday after Commencement, until the first Saturday in August.

Any current Westmont student may request housing at the Ocean View Apartments for the summer season. The rental term is the entire* summer and housing is granted on a space-available basis.

*Student research students may request a 10-week rental commitment starting the Sunday immediately after Commencement.

Summer in OV students may request to stay past early August and transition to their Fall college housing. This additional time will be billed at the same rate as Summer in OV (see below). Students will be required to vacate their summer placement at Ocean View by the end of the summer housing period and move to their temporary main campus housing assignment in a timely manner. We anticipate all students who wish to stay until their Fall housing is ready will need to move to a temporary main campus housing assignment (i.e. Fall OV residents will not be able to remain in OV for summer and transition directly into their Fall OV housing). Transitional summer housing must be requested prior to the start of the summer period. Late requests will incur additional fees and may not be accommodated.

Summer student researchers, international students, and summer student Westmont employees receive priority consideration if they apply by April 7. After this initial consideration, other applications are considered.

Application & Costs

Cost is $40/day or $43/day if in a single room. This cost is per person (not per apartment) and is billed for the entire summer period--we do not offer partial summer stays (except for researchers).

A $75 non-refundable reservation deposit will be charged upon approval (normally communicated mid-April) and will be applied to first month's rent charges. If a student cancels their request for Summer OV housing after approvals are communicated, they will still be charged the $75 reservation deposit. Summer in OV cancelation between April 24 and the start of summer housing incurs a $250 cancelation fee. Full charges apply and no credit will be issued for cancels after Summer in OV housing begins. All cancelations must be communicated in writing via email to the Housing Office.

Though the monthly rent charges for the entire summer period are posted to the student account in May, rent for each month is not due until the first of each month. We do not require a security deposit. Extending dates to include transition housing or cancelling transition housing after Summer in OV begins incurs a $75 change fee.
