Paul Maurer, formerly vice president for development with the National Coalition for the Protection of Children & Families, is the new director of the capital campaign at Westmont.
He works closely with Stephen Baker, vice president for development, in securing major gifts from individuals and corporate donors, and spearheading fund-raising initiatives.
“We are delighted to have Paul join the staff,” Baker said. “He brings a wealth of experience in fund-raising.”
Maurer served for 12 years in various positions with the National Coalition for the Protection of Children & Families. Since 1993, he was vice president for development and director of the capital campaign and successfully raised $13 million in gifts and pledges. He managed the coalition’s largest foundation requests and provided training for 20 non-profit CEOs in major donor development.
He also served as spokes-man to national media outlets, including The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, U.S. News & World Report, CNN News and CNN’s internationally broadcast program, “Insight.”
A graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a degree in communication and psychology, he received a master of divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in 1983. He is pursuing a doctorate in political philosophy and American politics at Claremont Gra- duate University, where he was the John M. Olin Fellow in 1996-97 and the H.B. Earhart Fellow in 1997-99.
