Westmont Magazine Westmont Fund Close to Goal
The Westmont Fund came close to meeting its ambitious $1.8 million goal, raising $1.76 million or 98 percent of the target. This year’s total matched last year’s record giving for the college’s ministry.
In a year when many charitable organizations saw gifts decline after Sept. 11, Westmont held its own. Continued strong support from alumni, parents, friends, foundations and corporations means that Westmont is able to provide scholarships for students and fund a variety of programs that benefit both faculty and students.
After 13 weeks of student calling during the spring semester, the Westmont Phonathon raised nearly $84,000 from alumni, with a total of 1,077 pledges. The average gift was $78.
Donations of all sizes count toward alumni giving, and the rate of participation was 33 percent during the past fiscal year. Increasing the number of alumni donors continues to be a long-term goal of the college.
