Hundreds of Westmont alumni will celebrate homecoming and reunions at several events this weekend, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16-17.

Associate Dean of Residence Life Stu Cleek, who spent the night of the Tea Fire in the gym with students, leads a discussion about the blaze during a mini-class in Clark Lounge at 2 p.m. Friday. A taco bar, casual mingling and carnival fun will follow at a picnic dinner on Kerrwood Lawn at 5:30 p.m.

In soccer action, the Warriors take on Point Loma Nazarene University Saturday. The men’s match begins at 1 p.m. and the women kickoff at 3:30 p.m., both on Lovik Field.

Saturday highlights include an Alumni Fun Run at 7:30 a.m. at East Beach and a faculty panel, “Poverty: A Christian Perspective in Response,” taking place in conjunction with the Rembrandt exhibit in Reynolds Gallery at 10 a.m.

A luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Saturday will honor Westmont Alumni of the Year, Dave Odell ’89. The lunch, taking place on the Winter Hall building site, includes comments by President Gayle D. Beebe. Attendance at the luncheon requires advance reservation with the alumni office at (805)565-6056 or alumni@westmont.edu.

Several student activities are scheduled this weekend, including a student/alumni dessert reception in Voskuyl Library Friday at 7 p.m. Students also will participate in spirit stations at the soccer games on Saturday.

Among the many alumni planning to return to campus this weekend are those from the class of 1984, celebrating their 25th reunion with a dinner in Page Hall Saturday night.
