Santa Barbara resident Nadya Brown won Best of Show at the opening reception of the annual Tri-County juried exhibition, “Uncanny,” at the Westmont Ridley-Tree Museum. Brown, who was born and raised in England, won the $1,000 prize for her vibrant, dream-like painting “Kafka and the Snowglobe.”
Westmont alumnus and hyperrealist painter Robin Eley ’01 handpicked the exhibition, which features 45 pieces from 33 local artists and runs through June 18.
Inga Guzyte won First Honorable Mention for “The Bacall Look.” Margaret Ricks won Second Honorable Mention for “Unveiled.” Third Honorable Mention went to Sommer Roman for “Sighting no. 542.” Ruth Ellen Hoag won the Art Council Award for “Impromptu.” All the winners earned $500.
All the pieces in “Uncanny” are for sale, with 30 percent benefiting the museum.
The museum is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. It’s closed Sundays and college holidays. For more information, please visit westmont.edu/museum or contact the museum at (805) 565-6162.
