Celtic Concert and Coffee Combine at KSC

celeA young Bay Area Celtic band will be playing at Westmont, Friday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. in Kerr Student Center (KSC). The Celtic Coffeehouse will feature Célé Dé, an eclectic quintet of Christian high school and college students.

Their music has been described as blend of pop, soft rock, jazz and a touch of Bluegrass with Celtic roots. The band members, ages 17 through 20, are Olivia and Robby Valderrama (flute & acoustic guitar), Peter and Amy Kistler (percussion & violin), and Samuel Davidson (also on violin).

The name Célé Dé comes from a Celtic monastic order and means “Servants of God.”

Their most recent CD, “Fresh,” came out last summer. They also released “Mist on the Mountain” in 2003. Célé Dé won 3rd place at the Gospel Music Association’s “Music in the Rockies 2004” national competition. They also won the America’s Christian Music Showcase 2005.

The concert is being co-sponsored by the office of Intercultural Programs (ICP) and Westmont Activities and Clubs Council (WACC).
