Jill Felber, professor of flute at UC Santa Barbara, offers a flute masterclass, featuring performances by the advanced private students of Andrea Di Maggio (Westmont) and Dr. Linda Holland (SBCC), Saturday, Sept. 26, at 2 p.m. in Westmont’s Deane Chapel. The Masterclass is free and open to the public. For more information, please call the Westmont Music Department at (805)565-6040.
“This is a performance class we have been organizing for years for our private students as an opportunity to work with a master teacher — who just happens to be the teacher both Linda and I studied with for graduate school,” Di Maggio says.
Felber, who holds degrees from the University of Michigan and Bowling Green State University, will coach the students through their prepared pieces and will work additionally with the student and his/her accompanist. Accompanists for the class are Neil Di Maggio (Westmont) and Anne Weger.
“It’s wonderful to offer these types of advanced experiences to students of all ages,” Andrea Di Maggio says. “Jill Felber is a phenomenal teacher and performer and will be inspiring and entertaining.”
Felber has performed solo recitals, chamber music and concertos on four continents and has held residencies in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia, Mexico, France, Switzerland, Great Britain, Italy, Canada and the United States.
