Men’s Basketball to Celebrate 75 Years

The Westmont men’s basketball program commemorates 75 years of excellence by hosting a weekend of events, including a dinner celebration at the Fess Parker: A Doubletree Resort by Hilton on Friday, Jan. 20, 2017 at 6 p.m. Dinner tickets, which include free admission to Saturday’s basketball game, are $75 per person, $140 per couple, and $650 per table of ten. The celebration concludes Saturday, Jan. 21, with the Warriors battling San Diego Christian at 7:30 p.m. in Murchison Gym.

“I am looking forward to reconnecting with teammates, coaches and fans,” says John Moore, who is in his 24th year as Westmont head men’s basketball coach.

Begun in the fall of 1940, Westmont men’s basketball has advanced to the NAIA National Tournament on 18 occasions. In 2015, the Warriors finished as National Runner-Up. Westmont has made two other semifinal appearances (1984, 1999). Sixteen times, Warriors have been named NAIA All-Americans, including Daniel Carlin in 2015 and Cory Blau in 2016. Westmont men’s basketball players have also earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors on 16 occasions.
