Newton to be Interviewed on CNN

David NewtonDavid Newton, Westmont professor of entrepreneurial finance, will be interviewed on CNN's “Anderson Cooper 360,” Friday, June 16, at 7 p.m., for a special series Cooper is doing on top entrepreneurs of the 20th century who have literally changed American life as we know it.

Newton was invited to discuss Howard Schultz, founder of Starbucks, and talk about Schultz's innovation and creation of an entirely new industry and the development of this brand and its full product-concept. Starbucks has become a top-10 globally recognized brand name.

Other nationally recognized experts on entrepreneurship will also be interviewed on CNN about other top American entrepreneurs.

Newton founded Westmont's entrepreneurship program in 1990. He has worked with over 130 fast-growth entrepreneurial firms since 1984 in the areas of writing business plans, financial strategy, venture capital, IPO pricing, strategic planning, and buy-outs and acquisitions.

He was for five years a contributing editor to Entrepreneur.com, writing monthly on entrepreneurial finance, is a founding member of the board of advisors for Santa Barbara Technology Incubator, and founder and CEO of TechKnowledge Point Corporation, a global entrepreneurship research and referral online exchange.

Prior to coming to Westmont, Newton taught for five years in the MBA program at Pepperdine University, and one year at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.
