Orchestra Premieres Redford Arrangement

The Orchestra

Hollywood composer J.A.C. Redford has arranged a piece for Westmont ’s
Chamber Orchestra to be premiered Friday, Nov. 2, 8 p. m. at First Presbyterian
Church, Constance and State Street. The orchestra will also perform Sunday, Nov. 4,
7 p.m. at El Montecito Presbyterian Church, 1455 East Valley Road. These
performances are made possible in part by the generous support of Prudent i al
California Realty.

Redford’s arrangement of the hymn “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” was created
specifically for the Westmont Chamber Orchestra, directed by Michael Shasberger,
Adams professor of music and worship.

An accomplished composer of concert, chamber and choral music, Redford has
also written more than three dozen film scores including “Oliver & Company,”
“Newsies,” and “The Mighty Ducks” and music for nearly 500 episodes of series
television. His work has been featured in programs at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, the
Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles and Royal Albert Hall in London.
The concert program also includes Beethoven’s “First Symphony,” the Rossini
overture “Il Signor Bruschino,” and Samuel Barber’s “Knoxville, Summer of 1915”
featuring soprano Celeste Tavera.
