“About Face,” a juried theme show, will be on exhibit May 22 through June 27 in Reynolds Gallery. The opening reception and awards presentation will be 5-7 p.m. May 23 in the Westmont Art Center and is free and open to the public.
The competition gives local artists an opportunity to explore the range of expression found in the human face or an interpretation of the theme. Entries may be representational or non-representational, including such media as painting, drawing, mixed media, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, photography and video. Cash awards will be given for a range of categories.
The show’s judge, Wayne L. Forte, has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in fine arts from the University of California at Irvine. A professional fine artist, Forte’s work has been published and exhibited around the world.
Summer hours for Reynolds Gallery are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, contact Reynolds Gallery at (805) 565-6162, or the public affairs office at 565-7057.
