Schulze to be Installed as Student Life VP

Westmont officially installs Edee Schulze as vice president for student life at a special convocation ceremony Friday, Oct. 24, at 10:30 a.m. in Murchison Gym. Speakers will include President Gayle D. Beebe, Stu Cleek, associate dean for residence life; Brad Lau, vice president for student life at George Fox University; Carol Houston, Westmont trustee and senior pastor at Bethel Unspeakable Joy Church in Los Angeles; and Patty Martin, vice-chair of the Board of Trustees and chair of the Student Life Committee.
Schulze has taken an active role at Westmont since arriving earlier this year, speaking at the annual Wallace Emerson Society Homecoming Luncheon and lecturing to more than 100 about “Gender Dynamics at Two Christian Liberal Arts Institutions.” Prior to joining Westmont, she served as Bethel University’s vice president of student life for six years and in various student development capacities at Wheaton College for 21 years.
Schulze is passionate about the development of college students, particularly in the areas of leadership, spirituality and emotional well being. At Westmont she oversees many areas of the students’ out-of-classroom experience, including residence life, campus ministries, campus life, office of life planning, intercultural student programs and counseling and health services. She earned a master’s degree in educational ministries from Wheaton College Graduate School and a doctorate from Loyola University Chicago.
Lau, who has served in student life roles at Liberty University, Colorado State University, Sterling College and Lancaster Bible College, is in his 15th year as vice president for student life at George Fox. He is a past president of the Association for Christians in Student Development and chairs the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities Senior Student Development Officers Commission.
