Small Fire Injures One, Displaces 200

A small fire inside a storage closet at Westmont’s Page Hall forced the evacuation of about 200 students this evening around 5:40 p.m until 10 p.m.
One student suffered minor burn injuries to his feet, and emergency personnel took him to the hospital. The fire was quickly contained and did not damage any student rooms.
Power was out at Page Hall and due to concerns about possible electrical problems and smoke, the residents were told to prepare to stay in alternative housing for the evening.
However, it was later determined that the electrical wiring that was affected was old and not in use. Power was restored and students were allowed to return to their rooms.
