Students Win Science Research Awards

Five Westmont students received awards during the Student Research Symposium held April 16 on campus.
The students presented results of research conducted during the 2002-03 academic year in the humanities, social sciences, and natural and behavioral sciences. The winners were chosen based on the excellence of their research.
Two awards were granted in the humanities division. Erin Sells, an English major, won for “The ‘Razor Edge’ of ‘A Very Delicate Balance:’ Women, Work and Creativity” in Selected Writings of Dorothy L. Sayers and “Virginia Woolf.” Eric Meyer, a philosophy major, also won for “An Indirect Exploration of the Nature of Truth.”
One award was given in the social sciences division to Cameron Baker and Marisa Miersma, kinesiology majors, for “Balance and the Elderly.”
Two awards were given in the natural and behavioral sciences. Jessica Bocaletti, a neuroscience major, won for “The Effects of Chloropromazine on Implicit and Explicit Learning in the Rat.” Brett Isselhardt, a physics major, received an award for “Investigation of Muon Decay Through Measurement of Cosmic Rays.”
