The No. 4 Westmont women’s soccer team (16-3), which beat Ottawa (Kan.) 5-0 on Nov. 22, advances to the second round of the single-elimination NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship Dec. 1–6. The Warriors travel to Orange Beach, Ala., to continue tournament play against 15 other teams. On Dec. 2, Westmont battles No. 13 Martin Methodist (13-5-1), a team the Warriors beat 2-0 in the second round of last year’s tournament.

The winners of the second-round games advance to the quarterfinals on Dec. 3. The semifinals and national championship game will be played Dec. 5 and 6, respectively.

Last year the Warriors lost the National Championship game 1-0 to Concordia (Ore.), which is ranked No. 2 this year. Embry-Riddle (Fla.) is ranked No. 1, and Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) is ranked No. 3 in the NAIA.

In the game against Ottawa on Thorrington Field, both Kaci Mexico and Brooke Lillywhite scored two goals. Lillywhite tallied three assists as well, and leads the Warriors with 25 points this season. Goalkeeper Lauren Dorr stopped three shots to preserve the shutout.
