Westmont Alumni Earn Top Salaries

PayScale has released its 2016-2017 College Salary Report, which lists Westmont graduates’ salary potential in four distinct categories: No. 16 among national liberal arts colleges, No. 14 among all California colleges, No. 17 nationally for business majors and No. 74 for all U.S. universities and colleges.
At No. 16 in its Best Liberal Art Colleges by Salary Potential, the report says that the early career pay (median salary for alumni with 0-5 years of experience) is $45,700 and the mid-career pay (median salary for alumni with more than 10 years of experience) is $98,000. More than two-thirds of the alumni surveyed say their work “makes the world a better place.”
“These rankings recognize the tremendous success and achievements of our alumni as well as the excellence of our academic program,” says President Gayle D. Beebe. “We prepare our graduates to strive to model a life of service, leadership and impact. We’re proud of what they’ve accomplished.”
Harvey Mudd College tops the PayScale national list followed by the United States Military Academy at West Point and the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis. After Westmont’s No. 16 ranking, other top members of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) include Wheaton College at No. 17 and Calvin College at No. 76.
PayScale, the creator of the world’s largest compensation database, looked at the starting and mid-career pay for more than a million college graduates, including professionals who earned a bachelor’s degree from 963 colleges and universities. Its College Salary Report, which was compiled using data from employees who successfully completed PayScale’s employee survey, sorts the results by school, degree and college major.
Westmont is ranked No. 14 in PayScale’s “Best Colleges in California by Salary Potential,” led by Harvey Mudd, Stanford and Santa Clara University. After Westmont at No. 14, other top members of the CCCU include No. 23 Pepperdine, No. 43 Biola and No. 48 Azusa Pacific.
PayScale’s “Best Schools for Business Majors by Salary Potential” ranks Westmont at No. 17 with early career pay at $58,900 and mid-career pay at $113,000. Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., and University of California, Berkeley, were tied for No. 1.
PayScale’s “Best Universities and Colleges by Salary Potential” ranked Westmont No. 74 out of the nation’s 963 colleges and universities. SUNY Maritime College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Harvey Mudd, Princeton and Stanford made out the top five. Top members of the CCCU included Wheaton at No. 77, Biola at No. 327, Point Loma Nazarene tied at No. 423, Azusa Pacific at No. 441 and Calvin at No. 492.
