Westmont Artist Wins Again

Westmont Professor Scott Anderson has won The Arts Fund 2008 Individual Artist Award (IAA) for print design. He and other winners will participate in a group exhibition March 13 through April 24 at the Arts Fund Gallery, 205C Santa Barbara Street at Yanonali.

This is the second year in a row that a Westmont employee has earned the award; gallery assistant Nicholas Price won the 2007 IAA for printmaking.

In addition to a $2,000 cash prize, Anderson will have a solo exhibition in the gallery this fall. Arts Fund jurors said, “Mr. Anderson’s design and illustration work draws your attention by the consistently solid integration of imagery, text and layout. The style is bold, without stooping to brashness. This is the work of a seasoned designer.”

“This is the first year in the IAA’s 20-year history that The Arts Fund has offered an award in Graphic Communications,” said Arts Fund Director Nina L. Dunbar. “We are very pleased to have an artist of Scott’s talent and experience receive the honor.”
