Westmont Chosen as One of the Best Places to Work
By
Westmont
Westmont is a finalist in the “50 Best Christian Workplaces” survey, published this month by Christianity Today magazine.
Conducted by the Best Christian Workplaces Institute (BCWI), the survey polled more than 10,000 employees from 107 organizations in a variety of industries.
“This survey gives us the unique chance to study the perceptions of our full-time employees,” said Chris Call, Westmont’s vice president for administration. “The president’s staff will look at the survey to see where we can make improvements to continue to make Westmont a better workplace for months and years ahead.”
Westmont tied for fifth place with Simpson College in Redding, Calif. Other winners in the category for higher education (151 through 300 employees) were: first place, Dallas Theological Seminary, Texas; second place, Belhaven College, Jackson, Miss.; third place, Huntington College, Huntington, Ind.; and fourth place, The Master's College, Santa Clarita, Calif.
“We’ve learned from the two surveys that Christian employees, who tend to be paid less than their counterparts in the secular workplace, draw their rewards primarily from good relationships in the workplace and ownership of their projects,” Christianity Today Associate Editor Agnieszka Tennant said.
According to a press release from Christianity Today, the finalists believe people will rise to the level of trust they have been given. Additionally, when employees believe their employers genuinely have their best interests in mind, the employees are more likely to demonstrate that same concern for one another. As a result, workers can develop strong bonds, both inside and outside the office.
“Successful leaders know that the quality of an organization’s ministry and the quality of internal trust are directly related,” says BCWI executive director Al Lopus.
