Westmont Entrepreneurship Program

Westmont is listed among the “Best Colleges in America to Study Entrepreneurship” by Irvine-based Entrepreneur magazine.

The feature story in the April edition of the magazine featuring the top-ranked programs was written by David Newton, Westmont professor of entrepreneurial finance, and Mark Henricks of Dallas. Newton’s company, Santa Barbara-based TechKnowledge Point Corp. (www.techknowledgepoint.com) did the research for the project.

Nearly 400 entrepreneurship programs were ranked across three categories: Comprehensive Programs, Entrepreneurship Emphasis Programs, and Limited Curriculum Programs, based upon resources, faculty, course offerings, degrees, student body, alumni, research centers and other initiatives.

The top 50 comprehensive entrepreneurship programs at national reputation schools and top 50 comprehensive entrepreneurship programs at regional reputation schools are listed in the magazine. The other two groups: “entrepreneurship emphasis programs” and “limited curriculum programs” are listed at www.entrepreneur.com

Westmont is ranked in the first quartile of the category “limited curriculum programs,” which includes 75 institutions. The other colleges in the first quartile are Adelphi University, Bradley University, University of Connecticut, Kennesaw State University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Old Dominion University, Rochester Institute of Technology, Santa Clara University and West Virginia University.

The magazine partnered with TechKnowledge Point for the surveys, data compilation and analysis. TechKnowledge Point connects managers, firm owners, CEOs and other business people with high-quality, pre-screened researchers with the knowledge, data/surveys, and expertise to help companies grow and be successful.

The TechKnowledge Point proprietary online database contains comprehensive information on more than 1,000 collegiate entrepreneurship programs worldwide, more than 2,300 individual profiles of these programs' faculty-researchers (across three dozen categories), and summaries of more than 500 journal articles since 1991 dealing with entrepreneurship and venture development.
