The NAIA National Champion Westmont women’s basketball team and Nike have teamed up to offer custom apparel commemorating the Warriors’ historic season. The special T-shirts, sweat shirts and hats are only available for purchase through July 14. To view the championship gear and place your order, please visit the custom website. The Nike gear will then be printed and shipped directly to each customer.
“I hope that everyone will take advantage of our great partnership with Nike to get some high-quality apparel to remember our women’s basketball National Championship,” says Kirsten Moore, head women’s basketball coach at Westmont.
Kirsten’s husband, Alex, a Westmont kinesiology professor, died May 2012 following surgery for Crohn’s disease, about three weeks before the birth of their first child, Alexis.
Kirsten turned the tragedy of losing Alex into triumph for the Warriors, who won five games in six days at the 32-team, national tournament in Kentucky March 19, 2013. It’s the first-ever national championship for the Westmont women’s basketball team.
Prior to their national title run, the Warriors captured the 2013 Golden State Athletic Conference tournament championship and claimed their first-ever GSAC regular season championship. In fact, the Warriors never lost to a GSAC opponent during the regular season and held a 17-game winning streak.
The Warriors formed a partnership with Nike three years ago, becoming an All-Nike athletic department for apparel, uniforms and footwear.
