Orientation Move-In
Please be aware that details regarding move-in are subject to change as we learn more about what Covid-19 restrictions and guidelines will look like for Fall of 2021. Updates will be posted here as soon as they are available.
Student move-in is scheduled for Thursday, August 26th.
You will be assigned a specific move-in slot on Thursday 8/26 based on your housing assignment. When you arrive to campus, students should plan to use the main campus entrance on La Paz Road. You will pass by the lower campus entrance and be greeted at the main entrance. You will be able go directly to your room upon your arrival to campus. Please plan to move in your belongings and complete your digital Room Condition Inventory (RCI) within a couple of hours.
COVID-19 Testing: During move-in day, you will be asked to complete a COVID-19 test within an hour after your move-in slot at the campus testing location at Murchison gym. You will receive more information via email regarding the testing process.
Check-In Time with Residence Life: You will be expected to meet the residence life staff on the day of your move-in to complete your check-in process, where you will receive your room key, be welcomed by residence life staff, and receive important information regarding living on campus. Failure to check-in with Residence Life staff between the day of your move-in could result in a $50 improper check-in fee.
Limited Guests & Face Coverings: You will allowed to have 2 guests (anyone not including yourself) to assist you in the move-in process. You and your guests will be expected to wear face coverings while on campus and in the residence hall. After you have finished actively moving in your belongings, your guests will need to leave the residence hall to create space for others to move-in and get settled. Unfortunately, parents and families will not be able to re-enter the residence hall after the move-in is complete (this includes decorating and re-arranging the room).
Discretion with Stairwells: Stairwells in all the residence halls will be strategically designated to promote social distancing in the move-in process. Signage will be used to mark entrance, exits, and possible arrows to direct traffic flow. Though it may be tempting, please do not congregate in the stairwells or hallways to visit with friends or suitemates. Instead, meet outdoors in compliance with our social distance protocol.
Please consider bringing a reusable water bottle with you for Move-In. Due to COVID-19, we will not be providing beverages on move-in day, but there are touch-free water bottle filling stations at the dorms.
There will be a number of orientation activities for new students and transfers on Thursday, August 26th - Sunday, August 29th.
