Westmont Magazine A Campaign Challenge
After its public announcement at a festive dinner in October, The Campaign for Westmont is receiving broad support from alumni, parents, and friends. With gifts exceeding $45 million, this important drive has reached 96 percent of its $47 million goal.
At a variety of events in Orange County and the Bay Area, Westmont is presenting information about the campaign and the many giving opportunities.
Donors are beginning to respond to the $5 million Adams Challenge Grant announced last October. Completing this match has become a major focus of campaign efforts.
Stephen and Denise Adams hope to inspire alumni, parents, and friends to make gifts for the two buildings included in the campaign. To receive the grant, Westmont must raise an additional $5 million. To date, the college has received $750,000 toward the match.
“We would love to meet this challenge before President Winter leaves office in June,” notes Steve Baker, vice president for development. “It would be a fitting tribute to his outstanding career.”
Denise Adams is a Westmont trustee, and Stephen is chairman of the board of Affinity Group. The couple has committed a total of $10 million to the campaign.
