Westmont Magazine Campaign Gains Momentum
Momentum continues to build for the Bright Hope for Tomorrow campaign, which Westmont launched in April with an inspiring evening in Santa Barbara and the exciting announcement of a $5 million pledge from Lady Leslie Ridley-Tree.
Three more regional events followed: Orange County on May 15, Denver on June 5 (top photo at right) and Los Angeles/ San Gabriel Valley on June 26 (bottom photo).
Since April, Westmont has raised $7 million dollars and gained many new donors to the campaign. To date, the college has completed $69 million of the $102 million goal, leaving $33 million to raise.
The campaign provides funding for Adams Center for the Visual Arts, Winter Hall for Science and Mathematics, athletic fields, a new observatory and improvements required under the master plan.
“These fine new facilities provide essential tools for carrying out our mission, says President Gayle D. Beebe. “In these well-designed and effective spaces, professors and students can flourish together, expanding their minds, their faith and their service. For many years, they’ve excelled despite the buildings, not because of them. How much more can faculty and students accomplish in new spaces designed to draw forth their greatest potential?”
President Beebe and members of the college advancement staff are preparing for an exceptionally busy year: 57 events from September 1 through June 30. These include eight more regional events: Menlo Park, Calif., on Sept. 11; Seattle on Sept. 25; San Diego on Sept. 25; Portland, Ore., on Oct. 16; Dallas on Nov. 6, Phoenix on Nov. 20; Washington, D.C., on March 12, 2011; and Santa Barbara on April 16, 2011.
In addition, the college will hold a series of smaller lunches and dinners throughout the country to continue inviting alumni, parents and friends to invest in Westmont.
