Westmont Magazine Campaign Helps College Achieve One of Its Best Fundraising Years Ever

Significant gifts to the Bright Hope for Tomorrow campaign have propelled Westmont to the second-best fundraising year in its history. To date, the college has received nearly $82 million for Adams Center for the Visual Arts, Winter Hall for Science and Mathematics, new athletic facilities, the Westmont Observatory and the renovated music building (formerly the Art Center).

Thanks to the faithfulness of alumni, parents and friends, the college has raised $20 million for the campaign since it kicked off in April 2010. “We’re deeply grateful that during a difficult economic time our supporters are helping us provide critical tools for accomplishing our important mission,” says President Gayle D. Beebe. “Fundraising has been a challenge, but we’re encouraged by the momentum of the campaign and the generosity of our many friends.”

The scope of the national effort has helped make it successful. In 15 months, Westmont held 12 large regional dinners and 43 smaller lunches, dinners and gatherings to present the campaign to more than two thousand people interested in supporting Westmont.

“The past year has been very busy, but we’re feeling energized,” says Reed Sheard, vice president for advancement and chief information officer. “There’s nothing better than meeting with Westmont alumni, parents and friends and hearing what God is doing in their lives. We know there are many things they can give their time and resources to, and their support for the campaign demonstrates their commitment to Westmont. It’s been a privilege to share the college’s achievements and momentum with them and let them know how they can play a role as Westmont continues to move forward.”
