Westmont Magazine Chet Krammerer Honored in Hall of Fame

Former Westmont basketball coach Chet Kammerer has joined the ranks of the Warrior Hall of Fame. He was formally inducted in February at a banquet in his honor.

Chet spent 17 years as head coach at Westmont and compiled a record of 359-156. He claimed five National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) District 3 championships, won two Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) regular-season titles, and took the Warriors to the NAIA National Tournament five times. His 1983-84 squad reached the No. 1 national ranking, advanced to the NAIA Final Four, and ended with a 31-4 record. Overall, his 27-year collegiate coaching record was 547-256.

“I am always amazed how one person can make such a difference in the lives of so many people,” President David Winter said. “Chet not only deeply influenced hundreds of student athletes directly, but touched thousands more through his example. In fact, his influence continues as our coaches carry on his legacy. His desire to see his players become men of character committed to Jesus Christ was more important than his win-loss record. As a result, a whole generation of athletes graduated from Westmont with strong and healthy Christian commitments. Westmont will forever be a better place because of Chet Kammerer.”

Currently, he works for the Miami Heat as an NBA player personnel scout.
