Westmont Magazine A Dynamic Duo
When she served on staff at Westmont, Cathy Wallace McGrath ’84 worked on getting approval for the faculty housing project. Support from several thousand “Friends of Westmont,” played a key role in that victory. Now that she is occupied with her two-year-old son, Matthew, Cathy and her husband, John, have agreed to serve as co-chairs of the President’s Associates Steering Committee. They will help expand membership in this group, which includes donors who give $1,000 or more to Westmont each year. The opportunity to create a large network of people—like the Friends of Westmont—who support the college financially excites the McGraths. Their work will begin with forming the committee.
“We feel we bring complementary skills to this challenge and look forward to helping Westmont build an effective fundraising program,” Cathy explains. “We believe so strongly in what Westmont accomplishes in each individual life because we have seen how it has impacted both of our families and many of our friends. You can’t put a price tag on that valuable experience.”
John serves as senior vice president and chief credit officer at Santa Barbara Bank & Trust. His son, John McGrath, Jr., graduated from Westmont in 1988.
