Westmont Magazine Excellent Engineers

Three Westmont students received 1997 National Engineers Week scholarship awards this year. A committee of engineers in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties selected the winners.

Andrew Brown, a freshman from Dinuba, California, also won the George Bate Freshman Scholarship as the outstanding incoming freshman in engineering and physics.

Mary Elise Richter, a senior engineering and physics major from Cerritos, California, plans to begin the structural engineering program at University of California, Los Angeles, next fall. She has conducted research on superconductivity both at Westmont and at a local company. She is also an accomplished, award-winning ceramics artist.

William Klug is an engineering and physics major from Palos Verdes Estates, California, who will graduate in 1998. He has been an intern at a local company and has conducted research with Professor Warren Rogers at Argonne National Laboratory.
