Westmont Magazine Fit for the Challenge
Under the leadership of the Parents Council, Westmont parents have contributed most of the $129,000 needed to match a $100,000 challenge grant from the E. L. Wiegand Foundation of Reno, Nevada. These funds will create the E. L. Wiegand Fitness Center by renovating and expanding the current weight room in Murchison Gymnasium. The facility will provide students, faculty, and staff with up-to-date equipment and programs for all levels of fitness training.
A recent gift of $10,000 from a local foundation provided a substantial boost to the campaign. Westmont now needs to raise less than $10,000 to complete the challenge grant from the Wiegand Foundation.
Construction of the fitness center will begin during the summer, and the renovation will be complete and open to students during the fall semester.
