Westmont Magazine Forward in Faithfulness

As we celebrate Westmont’s 85th anniversary, we honor two visionaries whose foresight and commitment continue to shape and inspire our community: Ruth Kerr and Wallace Emerson. Kerr helped found the college and supported it financially. Emerson served as the first president of Westmont and implemented his vision for an academically excellent Christian liberal arts college.

Overcoming numerous challenges throughout the decades, Westmont has become the nationally recognized liberal arts college Emerson imagined. The college prepares students to live out their faith in a variety of professions worldwide, as Kerr desired. Westmont has attracted widespread support from faithful donors who’ve continued Kerr’s legacy and commitment to providing affordable education.

Every new Westmont generation expects to honor the legacy of these founders by pursuing the greater good and investing their lives in purposes that will outlive them as they move forward in faithfulness.
