Westmont Magazine A Gift of Stamps
At the age of 12, Peter Geddes took up an interest in stamps. Over the years, he has built a collection worth nearly half a million dollars. In January, he gave his stamps to Westmont and is selling them for the college to create an endowed scholarship fund for athletes and students from missionary families.
His collection includes eight volumes of stamps from the British colonies, one of U.S. mint stamps, one with both mint and used U.S. stamps, 13 volumes of world stamps, and many specialties. When Israel became a state in 1948, Peter and his wife, Chris, took a special interest in obtaining Israeli stamps and amassed four sets from that nation.
Anyone interested in purchasing his stamps can contact Peter at (818) 303-3058 (daytime) or (818) 792-5432 (evening).
Peter has served as a member of the board of trustees since 1960, and two of his children attended Westmont.
