Westmont Magazine Homecoming Happenings
Gayle D. Beebe and Professor Jeff Schloss honor Curt Hamann, Alumnus of the Year.
Students from all eras — past, present and future — participated in Homecoming 2008 festivities Oct. 3-4. Alumni mingled with students when they attended classes on Friday, heard Rev. Greg Hughes ’85, pastor of Malibu Presbyterian Church, speak in chapel, and ate lunch in the dining commons. On a tour of campus, they learned about the construction of new buildings under the college’s updated Master Plan. Cool weather forced the Friday evening dinner inside Page Hall, but children — future students — played on an inflated slide outside.
Warrior fans attended the women’s volleyball game against Hope International Friday evening, which Westmont won 3-1. The men’s and women’s soccer teams were equally victorious against Hope the next day, defeating them 1-0 and 3-0, respectively.
Saturday morning, professors taught mini-classes at the sites of Adams Center for the Visual Arts and Winter Hall for Science and Mathematics. President Gayle D. Beebe spoke to alumni at lunch and honored Curt Hamann ’83, Alumnus of the Year and CEO of Smart Health. Throughout the weekend, alumni met for reunions with their classmates.
Save the date for Homecoming 2009, Oct. 16-17, when you can witness the progress of new buildings and the recovery from the Tea Fire.
