Westmont Magazine Homecoming Preview
While Homecoming 2002 will feature traditional events such as class reunions, brunch with the president, two soccer games, a children’s carnival, a coffeehouse and a worship service, the alumni office has planned some special activities this year.
On Friday night, alums will join students, trustees and faculty and staff in giving thanks for the tremendously successful capital campaign that just concluded. The Campaign Picnic Celebration on Kerrwood Lawn will feature the Westmont Jazz Band and old-fashioned family fun. Later that evening you can view the stars at Carroll Observatory or laugh at clips of old Spring Sing performances in Porter Theatre.
Another new event is a Saturday afternoon fireside chat with President Stan D. Gaede ’69 and new Provost Shirley Mullen. They will speak briefly and answer questions.
An alumni golf game, a walking tour of campus, mini-classes and academic reunions present other options. Each reunion class has planned special gatherings, and the class of 1977 will enjoy a 25th anniversary dinner.
At the brunch on Saturday, President Gaede will speak, the Gospel Choir will perform, and the alumni office will honor Alumnus of the Year Cliff Lundberg ’65 and Distinguished Service Award recipient Russ Carr ’56.
Alums can register on Westmont’s Web site, www.westmont.edu. Click on “Alumni.”
