Westmont Magazine Honor of a Lifetime
The Santa Barbara News-Press selected Executive Vice President Edward E. Birch as one of four recipients of its 1999 Lifetime Achievement Award.
He was honored for his contributions to many organizations, including the Cancer Foundation of Santa Barbara and United Way.
Birch came to West-mont in 1994 after a distinguished 18-year career as vice chancellor at UCSB, where he provided leadership in institutional advancement and student and community affairs.
His responsibilities at Westmont include projects on the college’s financial viability, use of technology, and external communications. He helped establish both the Westmont Foundation and the Board of Advisors and works closely with President David Winter and the trustees.
