Hoops Tourneys Features 32 High Schools

Sixteen high school basketball teams compete in the 43rd annual High School Summer Varsity Basketball Tournament that kicks off Friday, June 24, at noon with games being played continuously through 11 p.m. The action continues on Saturday, June 25, from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, all in Westmont’s Murchison Gym.

Westmont Mourns the Loss of Alum William Klug

Beebe expressed the shock and sorrow of the Westmont community at learning about the shooting death of alumnus William Klug at UCLA today. “We’re deeply saddened by this tragic news and send our condolences to his wife, Mary Elise, also a Westmont graduate, and their family,” Beebe says.

Trustee Emeritus David Cole Dies at 91

David Cole, a biochemist at UC Berkeley for 36 years and a Westmont trustee for 12, died March 13. He was 91. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 2, at 2 p.m. at the Free Methodist Church of Santa Barbara, 1435 Cliff Drive.

Family Day Celebrates French Culture

“Bonjour de France!” a family day celebrating French culture, includes fun activities, crafts, food, music and performances Saturday, March 5, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in and around the Westmont Ridley-Tree Museum of Art. The festival, which is free and open to all ages, will have food and items in the French Flea Market for sale.
