Christian nonfiction author Andrea Lucado, daughter of bestselling author and pastor Max Lucado, discusses the twists and turns of a life of faith on Thursday, Jan. 25, at 7 p.m., in Westmont’s Adams Center 216. The talk, part of the Westmont Reading Series, is free and open to the public.

Hundreds of Westmont students returned to campus Jan. 16 after being evacuated following the deadly Montecito mudslides to resume the spring semester. Before classes began the following day, the community gathered in the gym for a time of music, prayer and inspiration.

Q & A Update About Access to Campus, December 11, 9 a.m.

Santa Barbara resident Denice Fellows has joined the Westmont Foundation Board of Directors, which helps build connections between Westmont and the greater Santa Barbara community.

Weekend performances of “On the Edge,” Westmont’s Fall Dance Concert,  have been canceled. A free, one-time only showing has been tentatively rescheduled to Tuesday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. in Porter Theatre. Greg Spencer, Westmont professor of communication studies, is the Western States Communication Association (WSCA) Communication and Instruction Interest Group’s 2018 Master Teacher. Spencer will speak on the Master Teacher panel in Santa Clara on Saturday, Feb. 16, from 1-2:30 p.m.

The Westmont Chamber Orchestra and Wind Ensembles will present their fall concert Sunday, Oct. 29, at 3 p.m. in Deane Chapel, on Westmont’s lower campus. Admission is free.

Renowned critics, academics and Guatemalan art historians will be featured at a day-long symposium exploring Guatemalan visual art production from the 1960s to the present day on Friday, Oct. 20, at Westmont’s Porter Theatre.

“The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui,” a satire examining the nature of power and the tools of fear, corruption and oppression, premieres Saturday, Oct. 21, and Sunday, Oct. 22, at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 26, and Saturday, Oct. 28, at 7:30 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 27, at 9 p.m., all at Westmont’s Porter Theatre. General admission is $12; $7 for students, children and seniors.

Westmont remains in the top 100 best liberal arts colleges in U.S. News & World Report for the ninth straight year. “America’s Best Colleges, 2018 Edition” lists Westmont as tied for No. 96 among the nation’s liberal arts colleges.
