Westmont Magazine Presidential Honors
Well known in the Santa Barbara community for his leadership on the boards of local organizations, President David Winter has received two honors recently.
The Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse in Santa Barbara has produced a 1998 calendar, “Paradise Palate,” that features 12 “Men of Distinction” and 12 of the area’s finest restaurants. These men include President Winter, actors Michael Douglas and Fess Parker, the city’s chief of police, and leading businessmen and philanthropists..
The calendar notes that President Winter, featured in the month of December, “is recognized for his effective leadership with his students and his work with the Salvation Army Hospitality House and the United Way.” .
The Downtown Rotary Club in Santa Barbara has bestowed its Paul Harris Award on President Winter in recognition of his community service and support of the Rotary Foundation. Named for the founder of Rotary, it honors those reflecting the Rotary motto, “service above self.”.
