Westmont Magazine A Return to Retreats

An old idea has found new life at Westmont this fall. Students have revived the tradition of spiritual retreats, and 227 of them spent a September weekend at Forest Home reflecting on how they can become more Christ-like during the next year.

Amy Meyer ’96, the student body president, organized the event and opened it to all students. The enthusiastic response forced the planners to start a waiting list.

Campfires, small groups, solitude, and a time for sharing brought students together and focused their thoughts on spiritual matters. The retreat proved to be a huge success. Has an old tradition been reborn? Will Westmont students once again schedule regular retreats?
